{"id":54,"date":"2012-08-22T09:59:07","date_gmt":"2012-08-22T09:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/?p=54"},"modified":"2013-01-14T11:51:05","modified_gmt":"2013-01-14T11:51:05","slug":"wildlife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/?p=54","title":{"rendered":"Wildlife"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here are a few pictures of the neighbours we have at The Exmoor Centre.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"hinds\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-Vw-WsGmCgJg\/TyFWneOH5BI\/AAAAAAAAADc\/fzpkoHxY8TM\/s1600\/hinds.jpg\" width=\"346\" height=\"254\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Red deer are often passing the bunkhouse, they spend their time between the open moor to the south of us and the steep wooded valleys to the north.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"heron\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-GPUviQJphvo\/TyFWq3kK0VI\/AAAAAAAAADs\/_BkyyYQWhEg\/s1600\/heron.jpg\" width=\"353\" height=\"256\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Herons fish the river that runs through the site. When disturbed they fly further along the river, if you disturb them again they fly a little further, the third time they fly back around you squarking disapproval before settling back at their original fishing site.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Buzzard\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-ilDw4DVgkA8\/T2c6ihVYQAI\/AAAAAAAAALE\/4Lj1nX2yeF0\/s1600\/Buzzard.jpg\" width=\"485\" height=\"332\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Buzzards are almost always flying somewhere along the valley. Kestrel and Sparrowhawk are also common.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"cattle\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net\/hphotos-ak-snc6\/285449_10150277702743087_3159341_n.jpg\" width=\"346\" height=\"259\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The highland cattle look scary but are generally peaceful beasts and do not come close, they have got used to our Land Rover and don&#8217;t rush to get out of the way.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Fox\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net\/hphotos-ak-ash3\/24486_364001238086_626354_n.jpg\" width=\"346\" height=\"230\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dreadful picture I know! Foxes are always lurking about the valley, if you sit quietly you can often see them going about their business.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/?attachment_id=158\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-158\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-158\" alt=\"meadowbrown\" src=\"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/meadowbrown-300x226.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/meadowbrown-300x226.jpg 300w, http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/meadowbrown-1024x771.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/meadowbrown-398x300.jpg 398w, http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/meadowbrown.jpg 1275w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Butterflies are everywhere, these meadowbrowns are very common<a href=\"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/?attachment_id=159\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-159\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-159\" alt=\"bat2\" src=\"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bat2-300x233.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bat2-300x233.jpg 300w, http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bat2-385x300.jpg 385w, http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/bat2.jpg 837w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Daubentons Bats are a spectacular sight in the early evening, they are quite large at up to 275mm wing-span.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/?attachment_id=161\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-161\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-161\" alt=\"goldfinch\" src=\"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/goldfinch-300x219.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/goldfinch-300x219.jpg 300w, http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/goldfinch-1024x747.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/goldfinch-410x300.jpg 410w, http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/goldfinch.jpg 1393w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Goldfinches are occasional visitors to the site, the smaller garden type birds can be seen at close quarters from the hide at the top of our site where you can sit at tree top level.<a href=\"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/?attachment_id=162\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-162\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-162\" alt=\"deer3\" src=\"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/deer3-300x228.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"228\" srcset=\"http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/deer3-300x228.jpg 300w, http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/deer3-1024x781.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/deer3-393x300.jpg 393w, http:\/\/exmoorcentre.co.uk\/wordpress_4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/deer3.jpg 1977w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Again, more Red Deer, you&#8217;ll never tire of seeing them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here are a few pictures of the neighbours we have at The Exmoor Centre.
